Who can vote absentee ballot by mail?
Any eligible, registered, Wisconsin elector can vote by absentee ballot. You do not need a reason. Whether you have a hard time getting to the polls due to a disability or if it is just more convenient for you to vote by mail, all qualified Wisconsin electors are eligible to vote by absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen who:
will be 18 years of age or older on August 11, AND
has resided in the Town of Lucas for at least 28 consecutive days before the election.

When can I get an absentee ballot to vote by mail?
The clerk is sending ballots for the August 11 election now. You can request a ballot up to 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 6, but to ensure you get the ballot and can mail it back in time we suggest requesting one as soon as possible but no later than the end of July.
How do I request an absentee ballot be sent to me in the mail?
The easiest and fastest way is at myvote.wi.gov, OR
Download a paper application here and email ([email protected]) or mail (E2301 State Rd 29, Menomonie, WI 54751) to the town clerk, OR
Email the town clerk with a written request, which must include:
your voting address within the Town of Lucas
the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different from your voting address (the USPS will not forward absentee ballot materials)
your signature
a copy of your photo identification (click here for a list of acceptable photo ID)
How do I return my mailed ballot?
The envelope with your ballot in it will contain instructions on completing and sending back your ballot. You can:
Mail it back if there is enough time to get to the hall by 8pm on election day (postage is already paid)
Drop it off in the secure drop box near the southwest corner of the town hall (available 24/7 and checked up until 7:00 pm on election day)
Bring it to the clerk in person on the days and times listed below for early voting, or at a monthly town board meeting
ALL ABSENTEE BALLOTS MUST BE RECEIVED AT THE TOWN HALL BY 8:00 PM ON ELECTION DAY. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.
What are the other options for voting outside of election day?
You can vote early with the clerk at the town hall (E2301 State Rd 29, Menomonie) during the days and hours below:
Tuesday, July 28, 3:00-6:00 pm (you can also register to vote)
Saturday, August 8, 2:00-5:00 pm (this is past the pre-election voter registration deadline, so make sure you’re registered to vote before coming)
By appointment with the clerk (send an email to [email protected])
What exactly is early voting?
Early voting is also called “in-person absentee voting” because you will fill out a ballot while you are at the town hall (you can’t take the ballot home) that will then be sealed in an absentee ballot return envelope. The envelope will be opened on election day and the ballot will be processed with and like all other ballots.
