Notice of absentee ballot instructions for April 7 election
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may submit a request to vote an absentee ballot to their municipal clerk. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen who:
will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day.
has resided in the Town of Lucas for at least 28 consecutive days before the election.
The elector must also be registered to vote to receive an absentee ballot. If you are not registered to vote, or if you’re not sure of your status, visit myvote.wi.gov.
Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued*.
Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail
To request an absentee ballot by mail:
The easiest and fastest way is at myvote.wi.gov, OR
Complete an application and email or mail (E2301 State Rd 29, Menomonie, WI 54751) to the town clerk, OR
Email the town clerk with a written request, which must include:
your voting address within the Town of Lucas
the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different from the address above (the USPS will not forward absentee ballot materials)
your signature
a copy of your photo identification*
The deadline for applying to receive an absentee ballot by mail is: 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 2**.
Voting an absentee ballot in person
You may also request and vote an absentee ballot with the clerk at the Town Hall (E2301 State Rd 29, Menomonie) during the days and hours below:
Tuesday, March 31, 3:00-6:00 pm
By appointment with the clerk (send an email)
All voted ballots must be returned to the Lucas Town Hall before the polls close at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.
*Voters who are indefinitely confined due to age, illness, infirmity, or disability may not be required to provide photo ID. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.
